Russian legislators to mull nationalization of alcohol industry
MOSCOW, Dec 9 (PRIME) -- The Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house, will establish a working group to study introduction of a state monopoly on production and sales of alcohol and nationalization of the sector, Igor Shernyshov, a deputy head of the of the Federation Council’s social policy committee, said Wednesday.
“I offer an establishment of a working group to assess feasibility of nationalization of production and distribution of alcohol,” he said.
The measure would prevent deaths from poisoning by moonshine and will also increase budget revenue, he said.
